The main goal of the solutions was to design a building with clearly contemporary, elegant architectural solutions, creating a clear symbol of Bydgoszcz's modernity, while harmoniously inscribed in the existing architectural and urban context. Due to the scale and proportions of the existing, historic buildings around the market square, it was decided to optically fragment the body of the designed building through tectonic procedures in shaping the façade, the use of various details while maintaining the architectural integrity of the entire facility "stitched" together by common frames. There was also a clear division of the façade into the ground floor, the central part (two floors), and the top part. Between the museum and the administrative part, on the ground floor, there is a gate passage connecting the market square with the planned internal courtyard. The internal courtyard was designed as a continuation of the market square by using identical flooring materials and a drawing referring to the designed market square. There is a representative square/driveway in the courtyard. The main goal of arranging the Old Market Square is to define it as a city salon, a place that performs both representative functions and is a base and background for various temporal and seasonal events.
